Slippery when wet

This morning 4 guys got after it in the gloom at Eagle’s Nest.
We started with a mosey to Glencairn Gardens.
Arm stretches, Moroccan night clubs, Tempo Merkins
11s- At the bottom of the hill burpees, merkins at the top
Mosey to the AO for some ab lab. 20 IC LBCs and Flutters.
All told we got a little over 3 miles of rain and pain.
I really appreciate the guys that showed up today. On cool and moist mornings it would be much easier to stay in a warm bed. As I drove up to the AO I wondered if I might be by myself. It was a great comfort to see two guys in trucks sitting ready and willing to partake. As I wondered what was wrong with them, another car drove up.
I sat in the car mentally steeling myself to get out into the chilly precipitation when a thought occurred. These are my people.
We all need a sense of community and belonging.
I belong to a group of men who get up early and get after it.
Before the sun. In the cold. In the rain.
For their families. For their friends. For their fitness.
You guys are too much, and I am humbled to be a part of the group.
Buffet- I appreciate your style brother. When I grow up I want to be as mature and focused as you. Never mind that I have you by 12 years… There are some big steps in your near future, but I have confidence that you will handle them. It will not always be easy, but it will always be worth it. You will grow and become more than you already are. And who you are is already impressive.
Gold Plate- I appreciate your steadfast support and leadership over these last few years. I appreciate your sense of humor. You are there for others when they need it. It still surprises me that you EH’d yourself into a workout and haven’t looked back since. We are better of with you in the group.
Italian Job- I appreciate your ability to mumble chatter. You seamlessly integrate strong words and great advice with a healthy dose of joy and lightheartedness. I also appreciate the push this morning. Even if we may have ended up doing a few extra burpees a few times. The time spent was well worth it.
