6 HIMS of the Rock Region gathered today at Wall Street to run and sharpen iron on a chilly morning, hopefully the last or one of the last before spring is in full bloom. YHC is looking forward to cool mornings in the Gloom – great running conditions. Jester & Iron Sight rolled in from a pre run right at 0500 and no FNG’s were present, so a quick disclaimer was disclaimed and we were ready to roll. YHC announced to the PAX that the plan was simple today. Mosey down to the fountain / hot box and back so that’s what we did
The Thang –
We headed out down India Hook and made good time to Cherry Road. A few faster guys were setting a nice pace and we all gathered near Walgreens and headed down Oakland. There was a lot of road work going on this morning due to some fiber optic lines being damaged the previous day so there was no traffic & we had much of the road to ourselves. We made it over the bridge at Dave Lyle and ran into Gold Plate & Chuckie and YHC stopped for a quick hello and then chased down the rest of the PAX. We then headed down Main St. and stopped at the flag pole at the hot box and Riddler led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Afterwards, it was time to head back so we headed back down Oakland and YHC announced to the PAX that a new Strava segment had been set up in front of the President’s house down to Cherry Rd. All of the PAX gave a nice push there and we then we gathered at Oakland and Cherry roads before finishing up and the last bit and gathering in COT right on time. All of the PAX gave great effort & there was great conversation & encouragement. A very fun morning was had by all. Thanks to everyone for the push & the pull.
We closed with a few announcements along with prayers and praises. YHC reminded the PAX that word of the month in the Rock Region is Influence and YHC shared the following
Every father should remember that one day his son will follow his example instead of his advice – Charles Kettering
Proverbs 13:20 He that walks with wise men shall be wise but a companion of fools shall be destroyed
Everyday we have opportunities to exert influence. Our kids watch our actions closely, often times even more so than our words. We need to remember this and do what we can to make sure our actions are aligned to our words. Our influence is an opportunity to teach our kids and help raise them up and it’s also a responsibility we need to take seriously. If you need to talk to anyone to make sure you are holding others accountable and being held accountable, Whetstone is a great opportunity to do so.
Thanks Big Fundamental for the opportunity to lead this morning in the Gloom – it’s always an honor to do so
