This morning we gathered as we always do. The goal was to provide a tough workout so AMRAP was a heavy theme for the day. If you didn’t get what you wanted this morning then you didn’t work hard enough.
Today I broke the workout into 3 parts. Our warm up where I didn’t try to hurt anybody. Stations and AMRAP where I did.
Low Slow Squats
Stations featuring an all-star cast of:
Battle Chain- Like battle ropes. But with a chain. The Big Fundamental crushed this one.
Plank- Forearm plank. Nothing crazy, just good grind.
Sand bag toss- Bonus points for going overhead every time!
Makhtar N’Diaye- The forearm plank’s big brother.
Mermaid kicks- A reverse LBC with a block on your feet.
Tire flip and carry- Our timing mechanism. About 10 flips, lift the tire, return to the start and call rotate.
Driving Ms. Daisy- Hold up an actual wheel from a car, steering around issues in the road in front of you if need be. Tougher than it sounds.
Weighted squat- With a phone pole on your shoulders (or hugging it and sobbing about your burning quads if you just ran P200).
It sometimes seems that the world is out to destroy itself and everything in it. I have personally witnessed what I took to be cruelty simply for the sake of being unkind. It is easy to lash out when this is the case. There are times where anger is called for. There are strong, decisive, and even unpalatable actions that have to be taken. But, this must be preceded by thought and understanding. I think that in our current climate it is too easy to dehumanize and disparage those whom we disagree with. This is not the example that we are given. This is not the standard to which we can, and should be held. Take a minute and recall that we are all brothers. Reach down and find kindness in the times when it is hardest. Step back, find common ground, and proceed together. This is how we find solutions. This is how we accomplish goals. This type of collaboration leads to better solutions than any one person, or any one side, can find on their own.
Sometimes a verse really speaks to you. This was the case for me today. What I found was a guide for persona actions and a reminder to stop and BREATHE. All OYO. All 15s. If something could be double counted it was. The verses that made me reevaluate my Q are at the bottom.

It was pretty tough. I can still feel some of it almost 12 hours later. A constant reminder to pause, breathe, and think before taking action. When people stop and think they typically are able to avoid nasty cases of foot-in-mouth disease. But it goes beyond blind kindness or courtesy. Embrace those things that bother you. Understand them and accept the ones that you cannot change. Work to fix the ones you can. It is our duty and our privilege to make the world a better place and this cannot happen if you are full of anger, pride, conceit, or any other vestige of evil. Cleanse these from you because, frankly, there is enough of that in the world.
Romans 12: 14-21
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
