It was an extremely humid morning in early October and 14 High Impact Males decided to remove themselves from the fartsack to join YHC at ManU, the AO where YHC had his VQ. After reviewing the 5 principles of F3 and giving the F3 disclaimer we started.
I asked the PAX to ‘follow me’ to the Manchester fountain for the following exercises in cadence for the warmup: Imperial Walkers, Merkins, Irkins, Dips, & Step ups, and of course some Side Straddle Hops.
I then asked the PAX to follow me to ‘follow me’ around the parking lot to the front of Panera Bread where I had previously parked my vehicle. To give the PAX a quicker breather I started discussing what is mentioned in the NMM.
I then dropped my tailgate where I had some blocks placed. I asked each PAX to grab a block and we would circle up, perform an exercise (AMRAP) for an unlimited amount of time. When you could no longer perform the exercise you were to run around the parking lot in an area layed out. When you returned to my truck, if there were still PAX present you were to keep running. If nobody was there, you were to stop and plank up until all arrived.
The exercises performed were: Curls, Squats, Flutters, Overhead Presses, and Lunges. At this point I realized we were getting short on time, so I asked the PAX to follow me back to the COT.
At this point I reminded all who were present that we were to continue to pick up the 6 or plank for the 6 if we arrived at the COT before the 6. Never leave a man behind.
Mark 1:17 And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become ‘fishers of men.'” And immediately they left their nets and followed him.
This verse has been on my heart and mind for a while now. Jesus asked of his disciples as he was calling them to simply follow him. Today I asked you to follow me around ManU and you agreed to do so. Why? What made you follow me?
If this was the first day you ever saw me and I asked you to follow me, what would you have done? So why did Jesus’ disciples simply put their nets down and follow him, immediately? These men were giving up their livelihoods to follow Christ on the most important journey they would ever take. But, why?
I have been pondering on why Jesus’ disciples decided to follow him when asked, immediately. Were they searching for something, or waiting for something that had been promised to them? If so, why did they decide to follow Jesus and how did they know it was he whom they were searching for? Or did they? Could they see something in Jesus that they had never seen in anyone else before? Did he perform miracles on their behalf?
What astounds me now is that Jesus has offered himself to anyone who will believe in His atoning sacrifice for them. I personally believe that God places a longing for something in each person’s heart prior to creation that needs to be filled. The question is, what are you going to fill it with? Will you fill it with the things of this world or will you fill it with Jesus? Are you willing to lay down the things of this world and follow Jesus immediately?
