11 loyal listeners tuned in this morning for DJ IJ’s Q-clipse playlist beatdown at #BigGuy. Conditions were 73 degrees and 99% humidity. Yummy. Here’s what we did…
· 20 SSH (IC)
· 20 MNCs (IC)
· 20 American Hammers (IC)
· Various stretches
Mosey to the Football Field
First track on the playlist – “Total Eclipse of the Heart” Bonnie Tyler 5 minutes, 32 seconds
· Plank during the song, Merkins on “Turn around” and Burpees on “Eclipse of the Heart”
· 17 Merkins
· 5 Burpees
What a terrible song. Why is Bonnie Tyler yelling? Take 5 minutes today and watch the video. Wow, one of the strangest things you’ll see all day. Odd. But there was a sweet keytar solo around the 3 minute mark, so you have that to look forward to.
Mosey to the bleachers
Second track – “Black Hole Sun” Soundgarden 5 minutes, 21 seconds
· Hold up Dip position during the song and dip each “Black hole sun”
· 30 Dips
Another odd video, but great song. Takes me back to the golden age of 106.5 The End. I will never hear it the same way again. Wow, shoulders are smoked!
Mosey to the front of the school
20 Calf Raises (OYO)
Third Track “Ring of Fire” Johnny Cash 2 minutes 40 seconds
· Hold 6 inches and do a Big Boy Sit-up on “Ring of fire”
· 18 Big Boy Sit-ups
This one certainly burned. Glad Cash said “ring of fire” so often, because we all needed the reprieve from holding 6 inches.
Mosey to back of school performing Butt Kickers, High Knees, and Karaoke
Fourth track “Ain’t No Sunshine” Bill Withers 2 minutes, 9 seconds
· Hold the Squat and Jump at each “Ain’t no sunshine”
· 8 Jumps
Now this is a good song. Simple and smooth. Still felt the burn in the calves and quads.
Mosey up and down the stairs 3 rounds
Fifth and final track “Blinded by the Light” Manfred Mann 7 minutes, 9 seconds
· Moroccan Night Clubs then Overhead Claps on each “Blinded by the light”
· 9 Overhead Claps
Who knew this song was so long? We cut it off after 3.5 minutes and even took time to rest our shoulders with an air guitar solo.
Long Mosey to the wall near COT
20 Muscle Ups (OYO)
Mosey to COT
Total eclipses do not happen every day, so I felt I needed to commemorate the event the best way I know how – through song. Thanks Ringo for the opportunity to lead. I appreciate everyone staying with me through this odd workout routine. Remember today as everyone makes a big deal out of the eclipse that the same God that positioned to sun and moon in our universe placed you where you are. He’s not only a God of the big stuff, but of the details as well. As the world pauses to marvel at the majestic nature of a full solar eclipse, remember that you are His greatest creation. You are His child. And He loves you.
